Every once in a while you may get the fleeting thought that the powers above are actually not so bad; Maybe they are looking out for us. These thoughts are normally obliterated when a bombshell is dropped. Usually, by a whistle-blower or the media, regarding something horrific happening behind closed doors. Many of these atrocities are forgotten, but when you start reading about them... It really begs the question. How did they get away with this?
The game is Polybius. It apparently first appeared in several suburbs in Oregon and proved to be quite a hit. Hundreds would line up to play it and often fight over who was going to play it next. Along with the obscure addictiveness of the game, players were also reported to have actually went insane from playing it. Suffering symptoms such as intense stress, night terrors and even suicide. If that isn't scary enough, supposedly "men in black" would frequent the machine and collect data from it. What they did with this data why they did it or even who they were is completely unknown. This is one of the many reasons people doubt the authenticity of this story and it is often regarded as an urban legend. A pretty interesting one at that.
There are many theories ranging from plausible to just plain crazy on this one. Was it an experiment by the CIA to test the psychoactive effects of games? Maybe an early attempt at creating brainwashing devices? We'll never know, so I'll let you decide on this one.

MKUltra was a follow-up to many precursor experiments. These experiments, in which the CIA recruited former Nazi war criminals and scientists to assist them. Then during the turbulent times of the cold war, Project MKUltra was started as an apparent response to Chinese and soviet enemies
The projects main goal was to try to develop some sort of brainwashing method. With what they thought was a potential nuclear war this would prove as quite an effective weapon. Brainwashing itself, is morally wrong and against the Geneva Convention but that didn't stop the U.S. It's not why they did it's more so the methods in which they used that made it shocking. They often used people such as prisoner or drug addicts for these experiments and many times even secretly dosed them with LSD. Overall, taking advantage of people who can't fight back.
Even after many adverse reactions, they continued and there was even an incident where Dr. Frank Olsen fell into a deep depression after being secretly dosed. He later fell to his death out of a thirteen story window. However, it is unclear whether it was suicide. But... Many of the files from the project were destroyed by the CIA so it's hard to get the specifics on many aspects of it. 3. Project Midnight Climax - Damn CIA you crazy
Midnight climax was a sub-project of MK Ultra. Prostitutes, that were PAID by the CIA, were ordered to lure men back to a safe house. While in the safe house it was their job to secretly administer these men with copious amounts of LSD, amongst other substances. They would then be monitored by CIA staff and scientists behind a one-way window whilst they had sex.
I don't know why they did this secretly I mean, it was the sixties. Imagine how the conversation could have went down.
CIA: "Hey, do you want loads of free drugs."
Hippy: "Ummm..."
CIA: "Did I mention there would be lots of whores and sex"
"Hippy: You had me at hello."

By now, your probably starting to see the world as a pretty sick place, right? The truth is most people go about there day to day lives and don't ever truly click, with what's actually going on. That's why you need to keep yourself wise and be vigilant of your surroundings. Do yourself a favor and pick up a good book and figure out yourself what's really going on. The absolute best starting point for this would be The Death of A Family, in my opinion the only guide you need to navigate this often corrupt society.
